Arrival to Tampere Dance Current –festival
HÄLLÄ STAGE (HÄLLÄ-NÄYTTÄMÖ)
Hämeenkatu 25, 33200 Tampere
Dance Theatre MD’s Hällä Stage is a renovated former movie theatre located downtown at 25 Hämeenkatu St, Tampere. Look for the Hällä marquee and doorway between Teerenpeli Restaurant and J.I. Wahlberg Jewelry.
Doors will remain open for one hour before showtime. At other times, please use the buzzer on the right side of the front door. Ticket office hours are from noon to 4 p.m. on weekdays and one hour prior to showtime.
There is a staircase leading to the Hällä lobby, equipped with a wheelchair lift which requires a staff key. Please call the number at the door downstairs in case you need assistance on arrival. More info on accessibility.
On foot
Hällä Stage is situated at the west end of the city’s main street, Hämeenkatu, between Keskustori Central Square and Hämeenpuisto Park. It’s a slight uphill walk from the square, and a slight downhill walk from the park, a block and a half either way.
By bike
When riding eastbound and down from Hämeenpuisto Park, stay on Hämeenkatu’s southside bike lane on the right. When riding westbound and up from Keskustori Square, you need to take the northside bike lane and then cross the street at Hämeenkatu & Kuninkaankatu. There’s a handily placed bike rack right in front of Hällä’s entrance between the bike lane and the sidewalk.
By tram #3
The nearest tram stops are Tuulensuu A & B with a 100-meter walk down the street to Hällä Stage. You can also get off at the Keskustori Square stops A & B, which leaves you with a 180-meter walk upstreet. Ride the no. 3 tram (”Santalahti/Hervanta”) to get to the Tuulensuu and Keskustori stops. See the Tampere transit guide for details.
By bus
The nearest bus stops are Hämeenpuisto 0053 & 0066 and Tuulensuu C & D, Metso Library 0024 and Keskustori Central Square. Hällä Stage is about 300 meters downstreet from the Metso and Hämeenpuisto stops, and 250 m upstreet from the Keskustori bus stop. Long-distance buses arrive at the Tampere Bus Station, which is about 1 km from Hällä Stage, so you can either proceed on foot from there or get on a city bus (#5, #30, #31) at Sori Square stops C & F. See the Tampere transit guide for details.
By train
The train station, or Tampere Central Station, is at the east end of Hämeenkatu, about 1 km from Hällä Stage. To get to the theatre you can just walk along Hämeenkatu across downtown or ride the #3 tram (”Santalahti”).
By car
Unfortunately Hällä Stage does not provide private parking. The nearest parking spots (pay zone 1) run along Näsilinnankatu and Hallituskatu streets. Pay parking hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. on Sundays. See the details here.
