The opening event for the Tampere Dance Current festival will be held on Tuesday, May 19, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature program highlights from the upcoming festival, a discussion on the state of dance film in Finland, and an introduction to the Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava (STL), a contemporary dance center based in Tallinn.

This relaxed opening event will tune participants in the atmosphere of the festival through conversation and small physical engagement. The event will be hosted by Dance Theatre MD Audience Outreach Specialist Emma Heinonen. Members of the festival’s artistic planning group, dance film screening curator Kati Kallio, and STL producer Pille-Triinu Maiste will take part on the event.
